Glide Cruisers models feature the latest in electric hub technology. Our entry level model Calisto features a 36v motor "Road Runner" and our other models Europa and Solaris feature a 48v motor "Phoenix Racer". No maintenance is required on any of our hub motor systems from Crystalyte. There are no belts, chains, sprockets, gears, or pulleys. The wheel is directly connected to the electric motor. While a conventional motor is mounted by its case allowing the axle to spin, our hub motors are mounted by their axle, allowing the case to spin. Directly coupling the motor to the wheel means there are no losses in the transmission of power to the wheel. It is direct drive, as quiet and efficient as it gets.
Phoenix Cruiser 48v - (Standard on Europa & Solaris) The Cruiser is the best all-around motor designed for varying conditions and able to climb moderate to long steep hills. It is not as fast as the racer but is more versatile. The Cruiser reaches top speeds of approx 30 mph and will sustain its top speed under more varying conditions. Weight is 23.5 pounds w/ wheel.

Phoenix Racer 48v - (Optional) Choose the Racer when you want higher speeds and ride on hard surfaces with "normal" grades. The motor is wound more for speed than torque, yet it reaches 36 mph in 19 seconds and will spin easily in gravel or road debris. Weight is 23.5 pounds w/ wheel.

It will achieve speeds of up to 23 mph but does not have the torque found in the 48v series motors. Excellent choice for entry level riders not wanting faster speeds.
